Mr Punch, that irreverent puppet character, has inspired opera, ballet and punk: his likeness can be seen on Victorian silverware and even video games. He is descended from the Italian 15th-century commedia dell’arte tradition and even today this Lord of Misrule practises his anarchic slapstick, all the while proclaiming: “That's the way to do it!”
Talk by Mr Bertie Pearce who
has a BA (Hons) in Drama from Manchester University, and a Diploma Internationale from the École Internationale du Théatre, Jacques Lecoq. A member of the Inner Magic Circle, with Gold Star. Past experience includes lecturing and performing on cruise ships, and to U3A, historical societies, festivals, schools and colleges.
Event run by The Arts Society Rother Valley. Visitors welcome
